COMPOSER
Organisation: Illumine Theatre
Looking for: Composer
With special skills/experience: previous experiencing of composing for drama desirable but not essential.
Fee: £675
The job: Compose a recurring refrain to be used throughout the piece and through the credits for the world premiere of Tremolo, a short drama (approx. 30mins) by Lisa Parry being recorded in January and released as a podcast on all major podcast platforms and marketed directly to schools across Wales. The music should be for a harpist of approx. grade 7/8 level.
Tremolo is a tender, thought-provoking drama exploring the impact of a diagnosis of early-onset Familial Alzheimer’s Disease (eFAD) and the socio-ethical issues around genetic testing. It focuses on 18-year-old Harri, whose mother has been diagnosed, as he considers undergoing genetic testing and processes her diagnosis.
The sister in the story plays the pedal harp (to approx. grade 7), with a tremolo reflecting her closeness to Harri. This is a key central metaphor in the piece and original composition of a recurring refrain will be used throughout the drama and during the credits.
You must be Welsh or Wales-based.
This project is produced by Illumine Theatre in partnership with Gene Park and Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru, supported by the Genetics Society and the Galton Society.
